私が長年 聖ピオ十世会を強く支持してきたのは事実です （ “It is true that I have been a strong supporter of the Society for many years.” ）． その支持の根拠となったのは，私の一司祭としての任務と同会の任務とがただ一つで同一だったからです （ “This support was based on the fact that my mission as a priest, and the Society’s mission were one and the same, …” ）． すなわち，それは第二バチカン公会議後のローマ教皇庁（以下，「ローマ」）が見捨てたと思えるカトリック教信仰を人々が持ち続けるよう手助けすることでした （ “… to help souls hold onto the Catholic faith during this time when it seems to have been abandoned by post Vatican II Rome.” ）．
